side note: my apologies for the lack of posts lately as you know my life is in a bit of a whirlwind at the moment but I am trying my best to bring to you fun stuff over here.

MMIFW x Miami Style Mafia VIP Fashion event |Recap|

18 April, 2013

this past Saturday I co-hosted the Macy's Spring Essentials Fashion show brought to you by Miami Metropolitan International Fashion Week (MMIFW) and Miami Style Mafia. I had such a blast with my fellow co-hosts Ginger Harris of Electric Blogarella and Simonett Pereira of Miami Style Mafia and although I had moments filled with nerves, it all turned out fantastic. You see I am not much a public speaker, but I like to put myself through events that will provide me the opportunity to speak in public so that I can get more accustom to it, that is the only way I will grow. I did so much better than I thought and I was delighted with the results, I hope some of you who were there felt entertained and learned a few things.

the top five trends we covered in the fashion show were - Neons, Prints, Lace, Graphics and Peplum and some of the brands that were featured where Rachel Rachel Roy (an exclusive brand of Macy's), Donald J. Pliner, I.N.C, Guess, Vince Camuto, Calvin Klein, Free People and French Connection. You can take a look at some of the outfits of the night that Ginger, Simonett and myself put together for you so that you can have an easier time getting ready everyday, you welcome. My absolute favorite outfit of the day was the blue peplum top with the red-striped white pants on the eighths picture below and which I called the "Fourth of July" look, so if you had been looking for a look for your Fourth of July festivities I think I just found you the one. We also had our very own Trend Closets where you had the chance to get some styling tips from the three of us. The ninth and tenth pictures are some of the designs you will find during MMIFW, which starts on April 24, 2013 with a VIP Launch Party (find tickets here).

thank you to those who came out and supported us, we had a few blogger friends and new bloggers whom we met and several girls who came up to say hi. There was a lady with two daughters who just had such a great time, she ended up buying a pair of laced shorts that Ginger presented and the blue peplum top of the "Fourth of July" look, I hope she is happy with them. Oh and thank you for all of our support team of stylist, the Paul Mitchell Hair and Make-up team, the Macy's team, Maxine, Michelle and all others who put it all together.

friendship is always in season |a collaboration|

02 April, 2013

for about two months my beautiful friend Karla Garcia and I have been trying to get together to do our collaboration. We brainstormed for several ideas before we came to the conclusion that we needed to do something for Spring. We wanted to give you two different perspectives on what you can wear this spring. Spring is about having fun, really, that is when you get to play with flowy ethereal-like pieces and experiment with color. Both looks are the polar opposites in that Karla's look has that fun and flirty look to it, as mine has a bit of hardness to it with the metal necklace and belt but yet feminine and bursting with color. Patterns and pastels are the way to go in the spring time, in Miami color is always a mandatory rule. There is no where else you can get away with wearing spring trends than in Miami, because the weather is just suitable for it. Greenery makes for the best backdrop and we have greens all around us in Miami, that is why we picked this location because Karla wanted that feeling of a blooming spring.

always be adventurous when thinking of what to wear, never be scared of wearing what you really want because that is how you develop your own personal style. Also, do not be afraid of colors and patterns, play around, mix and match and see what ends up looking the best. Would like to thank my friend Karla for doing all the hard work, I just basically took her lead when taking her photos because I really, really do not have the skills of photographers. I have a new found respect for them and for models as well, it ain't easy. What I enjoy most about blogging is making new friends and developing friendships that can last a lifetime, so happy that her and I have been able to develop our friendship and feed off of each others desire to put out there what we love most, style and fashion.

Check out Karla's post for the details of what she wore here.
