A Beanie Winter

22 January, 2014

So I hear that Frankfurt's winter has been a mild one compared to previous ones, and I like to believe I brought the warm climate with me when I came back from Miami in December. Regardless, I am happy it's been a mild one, the weeks leading to the start of winter I would wake up expecting a blizzard or temperatures that would leave me shaking all day, but it would never come. I kept wondering when would winter hit us? I felt so lost and clueless, because I've never lived in a place where they go through all seasons, I only know one, summer. But as I kept speaking with locals and others who have been here for several winters they explained and I felt relieved. So not having to whip out some not so attractive winter boots has been a happy dance kind of moment. What I do love to wear all the time, is a beanie and a scarf. There is something so comforting about a beanie and scarf, it makes you feel fuzzy inside and feels as close to being home under your blankets as it could ever feel. This is one of my favorite outfits, it can transition from work to play without having to change anything, it's extremely versatile and it took me to lunch and a coffee date.

Do you love beanies and Scarfs as much as I do?

|A Photo Journal Series: Chic Travels| Strasbourg

The Cathedral Square, so breathtaking.
The alley that faces the side of the cathedral
Cathedrale Notre Dame De Strasbourg's stunning architecture, which stands on the exact site of a Roman temple. The first version of the cathedral was built in 1015, and later renovated in the 12th century and subsequent years after that other items where added to the cathedral. For the next four centuries that followed, the cathedral was known as the tallest one in modern world, due to the height of its tower, as well as being considered one of the most beautiful cathedrals in Europe to date.
The magnificent ceiling
(Right photo) The famous Astrological Clock, was replaced three times, the last being built in the 19th Century. According to legend the local authorities ordered that the constructor of the clock should be blinded so that he could never build something like it ever again.
Faith lingers among the lit candles

Patisserie galore (one of my favorite reasons as to why I love living in Europe)
Shops along the way
An adorable shop filled with goodies
A naughty art work hanging in a restaurant
The picturesque - Ill River
Today I bring you the rest of our photos of our day trip to Strasbourg, France. It was a very relaxing trip, because we failed to remember that on Sundays most of Europe's shops are closed (something to always keep in mind for those of you who travel); therefore we couldn't really do much. Regardless of that small set back we managed to enjoy the romantic scenery that Strasbourg so eloquently provides. A charming city that seemed to have been created for lovers, a city that centuries after centuries must have elicited writers and philosophers, it is hard to imagine otherwise. I could see myself spending countless hours gazing out my window or seating around on a bench on the Ill River (a western tributary of the Rhine), fantasizing of a romance that never was, or of lovers who were taken from each other, you know the likes of Romeo and Juliet. Yes I am an eternal romanticist, who lives for tragic love stories, what is it about someone that can find so much beauty in tragic love stories? I always ask myself that question. Moving on (that was a side note), the city can easily be seen in two days, a perfect long weekend trip for those living in the EU or those traveling through. We definitely made a stop at the Cathedrale Notre Dame De Strasbourg, a beauty that cannot be missed. There are several museums, shops, cafes, boat tours and so much more that can occupy your time while you are there. I will go back some other time to really get to see much more than we did, a lovely town in deed it is.

Pink Easy, Rocking The Coat I'm Breezy

What I Wore #wiw on my road trip to Strasbourg, France. Behind me are the walls of the Cathedral Notre Dame De Strasbourg, a stunning centuries old church that takes you back in time. The day we decided to go to Strasbourg, it was very cold, although we've had a mild winter. This coat is one of my favorite new purchases, because it keeps me warm and the color can pretty much go with anything.

P.s. Did you catch my title reference?

|A Photo Journal Series| From The Passenger Seat

13 January, 2014

This is a new Photo Journal series called "From The Passenger Seat," which will document what we get to see when my husband and I take on road trips all across Europe. I wanted to start something like this because I always find that people get to see cool things along the way, which are rarely documented because well the main focus is the destination point. The first documented road trip is this one to Strasbourg, France which is two hours away from where we live. The road view is not as exciting, some things here and there that got me excited, some that I couldn't catch on my not so professional camera (a new year goal, to get me an SLR camera), like Deer frolicking, and a castle up on the mountains that I wish you could have seen. I love road trips because they allow me to relax, admire nature and delve on my thoughts. They also allow for more bonding time with those you are traveling with, which is a bonus because sometimes you don't get to talk about random things in your daily life. Road trips are almost like palate cleaners of the mind and soul.

More to come of this series as we take on more road trips and find exciting things or beautiful scenery along the way. This series is intended mostly for my Instagram feed, so follow along live with hashtage #fromthepassengerseat, if you don't follow me yet, you can follow here.

What is your take on road trips?
