Checkers x Sneakers

25 March, 2014

I have been taking full advantage of the sneaker trend, I love the feeling of wearing sneakers but I always thought they were just not as attractive enough, but now that so many brands are changing the game for  sneakers, I can wear them more frequently. This particular style though is a classic one, and one that I used to wear when I was between thirteen and fifteen. Now that I live in a place where majority of the time I am walking, wearing comfortable shoes is not an option is a must. I haven't worn a pair of heels in a very long time, I lived in heels in Miami, but now all I want are comfortable shoes. Other pieces that I look to for comfort are coats, since most of the time I spend wearing them, I need them to be versatile and comfortable without loosing their appeal, this one is one of those that is comfortable but still looks very cool.

How do you survive winter months? what is your comfort pieces?

|A Photo Journal Series: Chic Travels| A Valentine Weekend in Paris (Part I)

24 March, 2014

 | Above | About to enter the enchanting world of The Louvre | Below | These four photos of highly revered women, Venus de Milo, Aphrodite de Cnidus, Les Trois Graces (The Three Graces) and Hermaphrodite Endormi (Sleeping Hermaphrodite). They remind me of the beauty and sensual fascination we have always had with the female body as a whole.
| Above | Grandiose Escalier Henri-II (Henri II stairs), which leads to the Salle Henri-II (Hall of Henri II) | Below | Probably my most delightful experience at the Louvre was during our tour of the Salle Henri-II where I got to marble at the most exquisite of jewels. I really was so mesmerized by each piece in display that I could have stayed in the antechamber for a few hours just starring at them and getting to know them a little better. Would the Louvre even miss a piece if I took one? (joking).
| Above x Below | A Tour of the Galerie d"Apollo (Apollo Gallery), much of this room suffered tragically from a fire in the 1661; Therefore, most of the room was rebuilt between 1661 and 1663.
| Above x Below | More amazing jewels in the Apollo Gallery that I just wanted to take with me, I think they had a cash register (wink).
| Above | A stunning masterpiece inside the Apollo Gallery, the finesse on the hands of these artists that created such breath-taking works is just beyond words, they are truly unforgettable. | Below | A shot taken through a window inside the Louvre of the main courtyard view where the Pyramide du Louvre (the Louvre Pyramid) sits.
Ever since I could remember I had always wanted to go to Paris, but I mean who doesn't or who hasn't. It's one of those things that no matter how cliche they can be they are inevitably desirable. When we moved to Germany, I knew this was going to be one of my first stops, but convincing the husband was the other thing. He would have preferred to have gone elsewhere, but Valentine was coming and I knew this would be the best place to go, after all, it is the city of love. We drove to Paris, and boy did we learn it was a mistake we made, the traffic inside Paris is one of the worst, it took us a very long time to get to our hotel. Having said that, our first impression was not good at all, and my husband already a skeptic was not too thrilled. Everything changed when we settled in and we walked around the area we stayed in. The next day was just magical, that is all I am going to say, I truly felt in love and now understand why Paris is so beloved. I just know I most have lived here in a previous life during the 20s, I just know it. MAGICAL.

|Classic Bags| The Mini

21 March, 2014

On Monday I showed you my top five classic carryall bags (see here), and today I show you what my top five classic mini bags. Classic bags to me, mean that they will still maintain their value and appeal lets say twenty years down the line. These are investment pieces that are worth splurging the high price tag on, at least in my eyes, although not all of my classic choices both in the carryall and in the mini have a really big price tag, so good news for you. These bags are the best staple to to any outfit, from day to night and are so much more fun and light then their larger counterparts.

What do you prefer, a carryall or a mini?

Most despise the thought of getting sick, but those pesky little viruses don't know how to stay away, they want our body and they want it bad. To get rid of them the right way, you only have to follow three simple things and I guarantee those germs will be repelled. The best way to nurse a cold is really by giving your immune system the support it needs, not by suppressing the symptoms, that never is any good. Most over the counter medicine don't get rid of the virus, instead it will place a mask over it or suppress, which means the germs aren't being let out, they remain in your system. Consider why you get a runny nose, or the non-stop sneezing attack, those are germs being expelled from the body, that means your body is doing the work, to get the germs out, which is what it needs to do. So let the the cold run it's course naturally so that you build a strong immune system, and in return you will get sick less often. These natural remedies will do just that, help your immune system.

|A Photo Journal Series| From The Passenger Seat

18 March, 2014

Here is my second post of the series From the Passenger Seat, this time on the road was going to Paris (whoopi). I have to admit that most roads so far I have traveled in Europe have identical scenery, so I think I will minimize the amount of posts I do of this series so that I do not bore you, I will only post when I have seen something different and much more unique. Also, I don't own a professional camera so my photos are not the best of the best, when I do get my camera, I will be able to give you better and closer views of some of the castles and towns up the hills because they are stunning, but that I cannot capture it from my camera. Regardless, I find it fun and interesting to capture what I get to see on the road, mostly nature, which I don't mind because it places me in a relaxed state of mind. Here are some of the images that I captured from the passenger seat, I hope you enjoy them.

Remember to follow my Instagram feed for live photos of my road trip activities and much more.

|Classic Bags| The Carryall

17 March, 2014

We all look for that bag that will carry all our lives in, because women just feel so much more secure knowing that if anything were to arise at a whim, we would be more than prepared. I for one have always been the carryall bag kinda girl, only until a few years back that I also became the small/mini bag girl who tried to see what she can do without (which you will be discussed further in Friday's post). Now that I live in Germany I have retracted to my old days were all I have on my mind is finding that perfect classic carryall bag that will not only provide me with some serious chicness but will also withstand the test of time. My husband asked me if I had one bag to pick that I would use day in day out, which one would it be, and it got me thinking, so much so that the reason for this post was to narrow down my own search and come up with extremely good contenders, it was not an easy task, because there really is amazing classics out there. These are the five top bags that I would love to have in my closet, even if I only get to have one of these, I would be content.

What do you think of my choice? and do you have your own "IT" classic carryall that you would want or just can't live without?

Heavy Knit

05 March, 2014

Lately, all I have been wanting to do is wear my off-white jeans, they just go well with so many things that it becomes effortless. There is nothing I love more than things that are effortless, from cooking, to home decor, I like things to look as if they just happen to fall into place. These jeans are as such, everything I pair with it just looks good, and thus making getting ready to go anywhere a breeze. I also, love my Cos jumper I purchased a few months back, it's made of heavy knit so it keeps me very warm and it's not utterly heavy in weight. If you have never had the chance to visit a Cos Store you must, while you are in Europe. Their cuts and textiles are very modern and streamlined, it has easily become one of my favorite shops, as their style is very much aligned with my own.
