| DIY | Chalkboard Cheeseboard

25 April, 2014

The easiest DIY project you will ever have, that you will be left wondering if you missed a step or something. This DIY project had been on my to-do-list for a while because I had been wanting badly a chalkboard cheeseboard, and this idea really came out of no where. I was happy because I knew I didn't have to buy too many supplies and it will keep the cost very low because of it. I am very happy with the results, as I wanted to achieve a simple yet chic appeal to it and that is exactly what I got.

Hope you find it useful and if you have any questions just ask.

Let's talk comfort, nothing I love more than clothes that can provide me two things, and that is comfort and chicness. With those two things, I really think us women can rule the world (wink), I mean it, think about the many times you were just so tired and all you wanted was to wear your yoga pants or sweatpants and an old tshirt, I know I have. But these days designers are understanding the complex needs of a working woman/mom/wife/girlfriend etc. and so they have opened up the world of comfort chic to all of us, making it the more acceptable and even more desirable to find pieces that marry those two concepts. I raise my hand, as I am one to buy pieces as such because I always believe a woman should look put together even if it is at their most comfortable state (that includes the disheveled chic look I also love).

Do you love comfort chic?

Rub Against the Grain

17 April, 2014

Another weekend outfit with a pair of pants I got on sale at Zara a few weeks back, I love the texture and look of the pants, they are one of those that can be dressed up or down and are very comfortable. This weekend the weather in Frankfurt was pretty amazing, sunny and not to hot and not too cold (which is about the temperature I love). This week though it's been kind of cold so we had to resort to our coats again, which I was not to fond to do, I was so happy to shed the layers (sad face).

What piece in your closet is one that provides you comfort but can be dressed up or down?

| Chic Eats | Pi Son Korean Restaurant

16 April, 2014

| ABOVE | We started with Pa-Jeon a Korean style pancake full of kimchi and pork | BELOW | My own dish was Bi-Bim-Bop a beef and mixed vegetable rice bowl that just makes you feel all warm inside. My friend Wan had Kim-Chi Chi-Gae a fermented cabbage soup that was so delicious.
| ABOVE | We ordered a few small plates known as Banchan to share during the main courses to make our experience that much more delightful. Some of the dishes include, Kim-Chi (fermented Cabbage), Kong-Na-Mul (Soybean Sprout Salad) and O-I Mu-Chim (Spicy Cucumber Salad). Banchan is a most try when visiting a Korean Restaurant. | BELOW | The hubby had Jae-Yook (Kim-Chi) Bo-Kum a spicy pork and kimchi stir-fry dish that was actually my favorite at of all the dishes we had. Our other friends had the Bul-Go-Gi a marinated beef that gets to cook in front of you, pretty cool.
Korean cuisine originated from ancient agricultural and nomadic traditions (dating back 8000 to 1500 BCE) but has evolved through out time, influenced by social and political changes. Their staples are rice, vegetables and meats but ingredients vary by province. Most popularly known for their small dishes, as mentioned earlier because of the extensive variety. Now Korean cuisine has gone mainstream and the number of fans have increased, making it more accessible to the western world, and here is where I fit in, because in all honesty, this Chic Eats experience was so divine I left skipping like a child with a cotton candy. Korean food is at the top of my list, the flavors are aromatic and provide a variety of textures and layers that it will make you feel so happy inside. If you ever find yourself in a rot, because you are tired of eating the same thing, go out of your comfort zone and look up a Korean restaurant near your area. I will actually be going back to Pi Son this week and I can't hold my excitement, it's going to be sensational.

A Cowboy in Deutschland

14 April, 2014

This was one of my weekend outfits, now that the temperatures have warmed up, I get to loose the coats and stick to lighter jackets and sweaters. Experiencing seasons is something very new to me, and I have to say that now I know what the big fuss is about. People who go through hard winters begin to come out of their caves and jump with excitement at the sight of sun rays. Spring has always been my favorite but now I enjoy it even more. I wanted to wear something that reminded me of the states, but I did get a few stares with this outfit, not many people dress like some type of cowboy here, that is not to say that Germans love country music, but they just shy away from the look. I had to show them how we do it back home, at least that's what I tell myself, an excuse to wear my beloved cowboy boots.
Hope you like a little flipagram video I made of what used to be my childhood favorite past time, blowing out dandelions.

Bright like Spring

09 April, 2014

Spring and summer are the best times to wear mirrored sunnies, a trend that doesn't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. I have gathered what I find to be the coolest pairs for you to wear this season, I have to say I would like them all. I selected the Blue x Orange lenses as I find them to be the ones that stand out the best, but any mirrored sunnies will do the trick of brightening up your look.

|A Photo Journal Series: Chic Travels| A Valentine Weekend in Paris (Part II)

08 April, 2014

|ABOVE| Musee du Louvre Courtyard |BELOW| If you follow me on Instagram then you already saw this photo, a classic cliche trick pose, you know touching the peek of the pyramid, it's one that can't be avoided.
|ABOVE| Vintage cars are my obsession and this one I saw driving through the street was just magnifique, and don't miss the snazzy driver. |BELOW| the stunning Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel, yet again everything in Paris is stunning, that is just the simple truth. Built to commemorate Napoleon Bonaparte's military victories of the previous year, between 1806 and 1808. The arch is a derivative of the triumphal arches of the  Roman Empire, specifically of Septimius Severus
|LEFT| A colorful boat and street walkers that make this city so much more enchanting. |RIGHT| Street art that was just one of the simple pleasures I experienced during my trip.
|ABOVE x BELOW| Leaving our mark in Paris, the first of a tradition we were going to begin to do throughout Europe, but so has it that this tradition may soon be banned (and the reason makes sense, never for which I had thought of it in that way, see here x here). So because I believe the reasoning for banning love locks is a reasonable one, we will no longer be doing it ourselves (at the time of our love lock experience, we were unaware of the issue).
|ABOVE| We encountered a Parisian bride or a bride tying the knot in Paris (one or the other), doing her thing for the camera (what a delightful run in). |BELOW| Speaking about delights, this was one of my ultimate esteemed activities, the one in which I got to go in to every chocolate/macaron store I saw.
|ABOVE| Notre Dame de Paris stands so beautifully, it looks unreal. French Gothic architecture is one of the most exquisite in my books, the details are truly works of art. |BELOW| Oh you know just the neighborhood park, also known as the Jardin du Luxembourg, just beautiful. The park is the second largest park in Paris and housed the Palais du Luxembourg, which now functions as the French Senate.
|ABOVE| At the ever so famous Cafe de Flore, for which I could not leave Paris without at least having a cafe au lait, the vibe was my absolute favorite. Best place for people watching. Not to mention it is most historic for it's famous clientele, such as Ernest Hemingway, Brigitte Bardot, Karl Lagerfeld, and Yves Saint Laurent (to name a few). It was the place to see and be seen, and still remains that way. |BELOW| The one and only, Eiffel Tower (say it with a Parisian accent).
|ABOVE| My humble home in Paris, also known as the Palais de l'Elysee (wink), this is the official home of the President of the French Republic. |BELOW| The opulent doors to a palais known as Abercrombie and Fitch, yes you read right, the  photo on the left is the entrance to the infamous store. The funny story behind the capturing of this photo is that when I saw it I thought it was some kind of special home, a mini palace if you will. I let out a huge chuckle when my husband pointed out to me what it was. On the right the eminent Louis Vuitton store.
|ABOVE x BELOW| You know I had to stop here, I had mentioned to you that I had to stop in every chocolate/macaron place I saw and this I was not going to miss. The ever so popular Laduree, which was founded in 1862.
|ABOVE x BELOW| The last bits of site seeing was left to the Arc de Triomphe and Le Petit Palais , both equally as stunning as the rest of the structures that sit so eloquently in this city.

That concludes our Valentine weekend trip to Paris, I hope you enjoyed all the photos as much as I have. Nothing is better then having memories of amazing experiences such as this one, I am blessed that I am able to visit such historical places. I learn something new every time I visit a new city, I especially are keen to cities with rich histories as I am a history buff and love to sit back and think of what it must have been like during a particular era. I think that is why I love to travel, because just about anywhere you go, you will learn something that will amaze you and make you feel connected to human life.
