|Chic Eats| De Rodriguez Cuba

14 August, 2013

this is a long overdue post, a couple weeks back when I was still in Miami I was invited to come and try out De Rodriguez Cuba Restaurant located on Ocean Drive. The restaurant is not located on the main strip, it's hidden inside the Hilton Bentley Miami so I can see why many may miss this gem. I say gem, because that is exactly what it is, I was extremely surprised by the ambiance, the service and of course the food. I decided to take one of my bridesmaid with me as she wanted to see me one last time before I left, so what better way than to take her along for the experience. She is actually in the hospitality industry and was just as pleasantly surprised as I was, which only validated my thoughts on the restaurant, she knows her stuff when it comes to restaurants and service in general. I had been advised to try the tasting menu, which had just been added to the menu and promised to be a hit. So we did just that, I was so excited to try everything because it all sounded phenomenal. The tasting menu can easily feed four people, we couldn't stuff our faces anymore and where so sadden to see such divine food go to waste. Everything was spectacular, I mean everything, you MUST try this place. You are actually in luck because De Rodriguez Cuba is on the Miami Spice Menu which runs until September 30th, don't waste anytime, I promise it will not let you down.

What we had:
Drinks: Cojito and Passion Picoso; The Grand Tasting Menu, consisting of the following: Foie Gras & Fig Empanadas, Kobe Meatballs, Crsipy Shrimp Chicharron; Four types of Ceviches: Tuna Watermelon, Ecuadorian Shrimp Ceviche and Tostones, Chifa Salmon, Mixed Seafood; Smoked Marlin Tacos, Vaca Frita Skirt Steak, Sugar Cane Tuna, and Chicharron de Pollo; Dessert: Goat Cheese Flan and Da Bomb (that's the name of the dessert).

Two must haves:
Well since we had the tasting menu, it is really hard to narrow it down, so either you listen to me and get the tasting menu or the two must haves are: Crispy Shrimp Chicharron and Tuna Watermelon (two of my ultimate favorites).

in all seriousness, everything we had (with the exception of the Foie Gras & Fig Empanadas, only because I am not a fan of Foie Gras, but I am sure those who like it will enjoy it) was beyond amazing, the craftsmanship and presentation of the food was excellent and the taste was superb. Thank you De Rodriguez Cuba for having us and for the excellent service and menu.

  1. I was so bummed when I went because I was 9 months pregnant and there was no chance of a mojito for me...but I have a feeling they make a fabulous mojito there ;)
