|Pre-Wedding Week Series| DIY Flower Crown

03 February, 2014

This week I will be bringing you a few of the things that happen before a wedding, as well as some tips you need to know if you are getting married yourself, I call it Pre-Wedding Week Series. The first installment is this easy peasy do-it-yourself flower crown that you can wear on the day of your wedding. This was my own flower crown that I wore for the reception part of my wedding, for the ceremony I used a birdcage veil that I also did myself (see here), you will get to see a better photo of the birdcage veil in the Post-Wedding Week Series. I found all my materials on Etsy (here x here). Doing your own flower crown will save you almost double the price of most crowns in the market, so get to it.

Flower crowns have been used in celebrations for centuries, the Greeks and Romans were the ones that proliferated them, making them a very popular choice for brides, flower girls and now in modern times for festival goers, but ancient people also wore them for any form of celebration. I chose to wear a flower crown for my reception because I wanted to have a very ethereal garden nymph feel to my look, as my wedding was set in a Garden. I can tell you that I wish I could have worn it way beyond my wedding day, as I just loved it way too much and I really felt like a garden nymph. I also felt like Galadriel the beautiful royal elf of middle-earth in the Lord of the Ring series and The Hobbit series.

What was your choice of headpiece for your wedding? or what will you be choosing?

this is one of my go-to outfits, it is fail-proof and extra chic. I feel very sexy and confident when I wear this outfit, but the best part about it is that you can wear it two ways. The FIRST look is business, the look you want to have when you go to an important meeting, a conference or even if you are conducting a presentation. You will demand attention, but most importantly you will provide your audience with a fresh and vibrant outlook. The SECOND look is self-explanatory, it's all about providing you with a fun and flirty feel, because happy-hour is all about having fun and for those of you looking for someone to mingle that's when the flirty comes in. I love these two looks so very much for the versatility and the unexpected sex appeal.

I am utterly in love with what Angeles Almuna did with this video, she is a wonderful friend whom I met because of blogging. She approached me with this idea that she was working on and I instantly said yes, because who can say no to Angeles, she is the sweetest and most humble of people. Not to mention her designs are ridiculously fabulous and one of a kind. I had never come across with designs as the ones she makes, the Spike Edgy flower brooch I am wearing is one of her designs and has been getting some serious attention. Her designs are versatile, which means you can wear them with just about anything and can be worn in many different ways, such at the waist, even on the back to give a dress or flowy top some life. Make sure to check out her designs, they will rock your world.

What did you think of the video? and by the way, I have now become obsessed with Jamie Woon, whom I had never heard of until I saw this video and heard the song.

friendship is always in season |a collaboration|

02 April, 2013

for about two months my beautiful friend Karla Garcia and I have been trying to get together to do our collaboration. We brainstormed for several ideas before we came to the conclusion that we needed to do something for Spring. We wanted to give you two different perspectives on what you can wear this spring. Spring is about having fun, really, that is when you get to play with flowy ethereal-like pieces and experiment with color. Both looks are the polar opposites in that Karla's look has that fun and flirty look to it, as mine has a bit of hardness to it with the metal necklace and belt but yet feminine and bursting with color. Patterns and pastels are the way to go in the spring time, in Miami color is always a mandatory rule. There is no where else you can get away with wearing spring trends than in Miami, because the weather is just suitable for it. Greenery makes for the best backdrop and we have greens all around us in Miami, that is why we picked this location because Karla wanted that feeling of a blooming spring.

always be adventurous when thinking of what to wear, never be scared of wearing what you really want because that is how you develop your own personal style. Also, do not be afraid of colors and patterns, play around, mix and match and see what ends up looking the best. Would like to thank my friend Karla for doing all the hard work, I just basically took her lead when taking her photos because I really, really do not have the skills of photographers. I have a new found respect for them and for models as well, it ain't easy. What I enjoy most about blogging is making new friends and developing friendships that can last a lifetime, so happy that her and I have been able to develop our friendship and feed off of each others desire to put out there what we love most, style and fashion.

Check out Karla's post for the details of what she wore here.

i have had such a slump, not really feeling inspired with my outfits or with creative posts on the blog, I do apologize. I am hoping I get my groove back, I really don't know what is going on, maybe it's the many things that are coming my way that are occupying my mind. I am working on getting over this slump so that I can bring you tons of fun things to look at, read from, and maybe learn something new. This outfit is my safety net, the easy to put on that still looks good but simple enough to go about anywhere. This J Brand jeans have been the most used jeans I have in my closet, the funny thing is that they don't look like jeans, possibly the reason why I love them so much.

Do you have a favorite pair of jeans? if so, which ones and why?

found this outfit at the very last minute and in a really unexpected shopping trip I did while walking my doggie. I wore this outfit to my nephew's baptism and was a great start to show off some spring attire.  The best part of this whole ensemble is that it has a bit of a late 60s and 70s look about it. Since I felt that for the past four months I had been wearing black and grey, I needed a pick-me up outfit and after having a very difficult week, one that I had not experienced in a very long time I needed something to cheer me up. funny how what you wear can ignite different feelings and moods, that is why I always believe in looking your best at all times so that you can be at your best at all times. Wearing what makes you feel confident and beautiful should be a daily routine, trust me you get more accomplished.

do you have an outfit that cheers you up the minute you put it on? or an outfit that makes you feel confident? please do share.

|Chic Reads Wednesdays| The Photo Traveler x Giveaway

13 March, 2013

i am extremely excited to bring you our next read of our virtual book club, yes I acknowledge that I haven't brought you the review of our last book The Beautiful Fall, I was having Internet difficulties on Monday night to post for you on Tuesday so I decided to post it next Tuesday (stay tuned). As I was saying, I am excited to bring you this read, because this read is like no other. You see a dear friend of mine whom I have known since the days of house parties, pom poms, gossip and homecomings a.k.a High School has written his first book. The day I found out he had accomplished a long time dream of his, I was elated. There is something to be said about those who live out their dreams, who go through sweat and tears to make them happen and if any of these people are my friends, the better. In some weird way I associate a friend's success as part of my own, can't really describe it, maybe is because I am happy when others are happy and success in anything brings happiness. I can't wait to start reading, I know it's my type of book because it is imaginative, adventurous and filled with suspense.

The point has been made, I am happy for my friend Arthur and since we are both basking in joy we want to play nice by giving one of my readers a lucky chance to win a signed copy of his book The Photo Traveler (read more about it on the site). To enter scroll down below. Also, the virtual reading club will come to you every other month, so that we have two months to read a book. Looking forward to hear your feedback on this month's book.

An Evening of Bridal Luxury

06 March, 2013

this past Sunday I attended my first bridal event with friends and I didn't really know what to expect and surely I didn't think it would be that much fun. It so much more than what I expected, I guess a few drinks didn't hurt the cause but either way, I had a fabulous time along with my friends. Modern Luxury Brides and Ever After Miami did a fantastic job along with their sponsors to give brides and their guests an evening to indulge. In case you missed it, here are a few photos of some of the beautiful gowns from Vera Wang's 2013 collection which where the attention of the night. The gowns as per the usual where stunning and feminine, my favorite silhouette has always been the mermaid or trumpet style.

Are you a sucker for gowns like I am? I was telling my friend Kelly I can live in wedding gowns everyday of my life if someone let me or if I wouldn't look like a fool.
