| DIY Collaboration | Aquazzura Inspired Pom Pom Sandals

22 March, 2016

| SUPPLIES |

Scissors
(or any industrial strength glue)
(not pictured)
Needle x Thread
(not pictured)
toothpick
(not pictured)
(color x style is your choice)

| DIFFICULTY |

Easy

| TIME TO COMPLETE |

2 hours

| step one | Begin by creating a pattern of size and color you want, I stuck to a similar color pattern, but I added two different colors not on the original design. Once you have established your pattern, start to glue pom poms to the shoe. Then let dry for 10 minutes.

| step two | After glue has dried, cut off the front strap of the shoe (if you end up choosing a shoe that has already lace ups, then skip this step).

| step three | Cut two sets of elastic bands at 2 inches long for each shoe (again, if you have lace up heels, skip this step).

| step four | Use toothpick to place glue on the cut-off strap part of the shoe, once you have the glue on, place the elastic band over it (see picture below). Hold while it dries, about 2 minutes (trick: blow on it so it dries faster).

| step five | Then cut off two sets of the real/faux suede cord at 24 inches long each.

| step six | Use toothpick again to place glue on the tip of the cord that will go in between the elastic band. Hold while it dries, about 2 minutes, let it dry for another 5 minutes.

| step seven | Once the the cord is securely glued, begin to sew around the elastic band and in the middle of the cord to secure it. This will actually be the longest process of the DIY, it took me about 15 minutes on each cord.

| step eight | Once cords have been sewn, glue two 1 inch pom poms together between the end of each cord. This is your last and final step.

The end result.

Today's fun DIY was a collaboration between my Miami blogger girl Gissi of The Architect of Style and myself, she had posted a snapchat video of a DIY that she had been wanting to do and funny enough I had thought of doing the same DIY, so we decided to team up to create our own inspired versions of the very famous Aquazzura Pom Pom Sandals that all the fashion girls love. She and I both love the Aquazzura ones, but the price point is not so friendly on my wallet at least, so what is a girl to do? create your own at around $50 for the whole thing, not so bad, not so bad. I chose to do a kitten heel, only because living in cobblestone street Germany is hard on a sista, so I gotta keep it low so I can get more wear on them. This DIY is for all my girls on a budget, because I look out for you!

Hope you liked the way the sandals came out and go check out Gissi's version HERE, because you don't want to miss her's. Let us know what you think, we put a lot of effort to create fun content, so a little love from our readers is always welcomed :).

A Look Back | Two Thousand Fourteen |

31 December, 2014

Looking back at each year that passes by is both a feeling of happiness and nostalgia, because that is when you get to really take it all in. A year really does go at a blink of an eye, I remember when I was a child, time felt like an eternity, it just took a really long time. Do you remember anyone tell you as a child to slow down? that life as an adult will move quicker than you can say quick, and I know I would always disregard comments as such because I thought, no way that can't be. Fast-forward a few years and I realized it was no old folks tale, it was reality and it scared me. Scared me so much I went through a time that I felt really sad, because I didn't want time to pass, I wanted everything to stay still, the way it was just at that moment, but then I realized that's no way to live and I started enjoying every little second of my life. So the reason for all this is to tell you to look back in joy of all the things that you have accomplished, even if you didn't accomplish everything you wanted, I am sure you did heck of a lot of things, so feel happy, proud, accomplished and look forward to the new year because life is nothing but a box full of surprises.

I know I've had a heck of a year, it has been one I will remember for ever and ever, one that I know I will look forward to sharing with my children some day. This year, I've traveled more than I have ever traveled in my life, took one small step towards what I hope will be a bright future, was part of my dear friends wedding, went back home for Thanksgiving and was able to see my aunt, who I feared I wouldn't be able to see, due to her terminal cancer diagnosis, but with lots of positive thoughts, prayers and vibrations she is still here and kicked cancer in the ass...and that is what I consider a heck of year!

Thank you for always coming back, for being part of my life, your compliments and your support, every year that I get to do this is one more year I am thankful for you. I wish you all a wonderful 2015, filled with love, adventure, success and tons and tons of laughter to keep you young.

Happy New Year's Eve !

Halloween Home Decor Inspiration

24 October, 2014

Every year I always say the same thing "this year I am going to decorate my home for Halloween," and each year that passes I never do. This year is no different, only because well it all crept up on me so quickly, I have been planning trips through out the year, and other things that are major important at the moment that, time seems to be moving so fast. Although, I am not going to decorate my home, I still wanted to get some inspiration, maybe to be more prepared next year, as well as to help all of you who need last minute ideas. These are a few I collected via my Pinterest that I found to be so different and fun, what do you think? are you one of those that is prepared months in advance or waits until the last minute to gather your Halloween goodies? I am always a last-minute girl (yikes).  Hope this helps to give you that little push to go out there and get the decor and supplies to make your home an enchanting Halloween. Needs and Wants: Jewelry

25 September, 2012

don't we all feel like we need and want everything? I know I do. I always feel like I need to have what ever it is I am obsessing over at the moment (which is quite a lot of stuff) but those pesky green bills get in the way of getting everything. Maybe sometimes it's a good thing you can't get everything because well life would just be plain boring. I need the thrill of the hunt and the aching pain of not being able to hold something in my hands. Here are a few of the things I want to hold, kiss and love...yes I feel that sorta passion.

2. Forever 21 Bejeweled Oval Pin, $6.80
3. Topshop Sequin Trap Mesh Bracelet, $25
4. Asos Bee Collar Brooches, $13.80

Serendipity 3 {unexpected} goodness

21 September, 2012

a cocktail to start

for those of you girls (and those guys that were forced to see it...or where they?) who saw the movie Serendipity back in 2001 you know that ever since you have been wanting to go or have gone to Serendipity 3 mainly to try the star of the restaurant the "Frozzzen Hot Chocolate." I was invited to go for a complimentary dinner, I was delighted and couldn't let the opportunity pass as I had been dying to go since it's opening in 2011 here in Miami. Come last Wednesday and bam I finally made it there, I had such a great time and the service was wonderful.

adorable
lettace wraps for starters
a burger for the beau
the crab cake dinner for me
and what I was waiting for
oh la la at last the Frozzzen Hot Chocolate
yea I was happy
they brought this one out for us to try
adorable interior
who does this? only me
Hello Kitty has good company
whimsical globes

the lowdown:

  • Serendipity 3 is located on Lincoln Road with a parking garage around the corner for easy access.
  • the restaurant got attention when it was featured in a few movies, one being the movie Serendipity (2001) where the "Frozzzen Hot Chocolate" became the sought after dessert.
  • History tid bit: the restaurant started out in a basement in Manhattan's upper east side in the 1950s and quickly became a popular spot for whimsical bites and unique desserts.
  • The beau had the traditional hamburger with sweet potato fries, as you can see the burger was a good size, the burger was good nothing fancy, just how a traditional burger should taste like. The sweet potato fries were crispy and delicious a great alternative to the regular fries.
  • I had the crab cake dinner plate, if you are a crab cake eater than you should have them as they are pretty meaty and full of flavor and the salad compliments the crab very well with a sweet and tangy taste.
  • But really what you should save your stomach for is the desserts, which are outrageous and out of this world.
  • I had been looking forward to the Frozzzen Hot Chocolate for years, 11 years to be exact and when I sipped it for the first time I felt I was floating through the clouds. I could live off of these delights and I think it would be a healthy choice no?
  • They brought out the Forbidden Broadway sundae for us to try even though we didn't order it and we both looked at each other like "how will we finish all of this chocolate goodness?" but we had to be polite and eat it, very polite! {sarcasm}. Who are we kidding, we were kids in a candy store. The sundae was so good, I wish I would have had more room to eat it all.
  • Overall, if you are looking for a place to have dessert well this is the place to be. The selection of food is pretty extensive, I suggest you just get appetizers or a small plate to save room for the stars of the show. I will definitely visit again as the service was great and the atmosphere was very whimsical.

Drop my peplum

19 September, 2012

Vest & Shoes: Zara| Dress: RACHEL Rachel Roy (via Macy's)| Sunnies: Gap| Necklace: Forever 21

this dress is one of my favorite finds, I purchased it a few months ago knowing that it was going to be a perfect transitional dress from summer to fall and a good dress to layer up "if" Miami ever gets a cold front. The color combination is what's in as Military/hunter green are hitting up a storm this season, as well as the dropped peplum. For this piece just throw in a vest (like I did) or an asymmetrical cut leather jacket and you're in like Flynn (say yes to my corny lines, or pretend you like them). The dress makes me fill a bit whimsical but still gives me that edge I always seek in a piece of garment.

And there you have it folks a small but useful piece of information on what to wear when Miami awaits never the low temperatures. So you see you can still wear fall trends in Miami, you just have to get creative.
